Ky Nguyen Wins WPT® Gardens Poker Championship for $357380 – World Poker Tour
Ky Nguyen has won his first World Poker Tour® title by taking down WPT® Gardens Poker Championship.

Las Vegas, NV (May 27, 2023)– Ky Nguyen has won his first World Poker Tour® title by taking down WPT® Gardens Poker Championship. Nguyen claimed the $357,380 top prize, which includes a seat to the 2023 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas, and will have his name added to the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.
“I have tried to play so many tournaments and I finally made it this far,” Nguyen said. “I am overwhelmed with joy.”
The $5,250 buy-in tournament, which began at The Gardens Casino in Southern California and ended at HyperX Arena in Las Vegas, attracted a field of 346 entries. A total prize pool of $1,678,100 was generated and the top 44 players earned a cash.
“It was so great to be back at The Gardens Casino for the first time in a few years,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Thank you to all the participants, and a big congratulations to Ky Nguyen for his victory as his name will be added to the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.”
Ryan Salunga finished as the runner-up, winning $230,000. He was preceded by Chris Lee (3rd place – $169,000), Brad Owen (4th place – $125,000), Joey Deluca (5th place – $94,000) and Josh Lachman (6th place – $71,200).
Other notable players cashing at WPT Gardens Poker Championship were WPT Champions Daniel Strelitz (23rd place), Josh Pollock (37th place) and Frank Stepuchin (42nd place).
Next up on the Main Tour is WPT Australia with festival dates from September 14-27 and $8,000 main event running from September 22-27. Currently, the WPT Prime Vietnam main event is underway at Crown Poker Club in Hanoi.
